Absolutely Fabulous

Lesley is a wind up merchant. Hadn't seen her for ages. So we met in one of the beach restaurants before heading to see Patsy and Edina on the big screen. She strolls back from the restaurant loos and just before sitting down she suddenly veers towards me, gets down on one knee, holds out this chunky plastic green ring and proposes. At which point I collapse laughing. But then I blush for real when I notice a few of the tables around us were staring and thinking this was for realzzzz. Who the hell would propose in Bella Italia people???? Anyway, back to mad Lesley. She soon sits down and hands the ring to the waiter to be hopefully returned to the wee girl that had lost it in the loos.

The film was full of wifies, all laughing, especially Lesley who was having a rare time of seeing the two drunken lushes on the big screen. Joanna Lumley holds the film together as Patsy, but then again so does Bubbles' outfits. And while it might have been better as a Christmas TV special rather than a film, we couldn't not see it, a generation of folks owe loyalty to these two characters who made us laugh week in week out years back.

Back home to Dave to tell him I received a proposal. But he was more concerned that I'd had "Big Tony"...which happens to be a chocolate knickerbocker glory, not a large man.
