Times Of My Life

David Tennant Statue

We spotted this sculpture, unseen on previous trips, and immediately thought it looked like David Tennant in his Dr Who role.  However, we later found it is a tribute to a young Greek student who set himself on fire in the 1970's, in a protest against the regime.

There is so much to see and do, and at last we made it into the Museum of Asiatic Art, which we have wanted to visit for years.

And always, our very favourite place - the Spianada, also known as The Liston, where you can sit and people-watch for hours, sipping a coffee or beer.  As the darkness falls, whole families come out to eat and drink here, and the children play happily in the middle of the marble walkway, while waiters carrying trays of glasses deftly weave around them.

The noise can become quite incredible, like a huge flock  of starlings, as hundreds of conversations are carried on simultaneously.
