Wasp beetle in my garden
I've been recording quite a few longhorn beetles over the last few weeks, but this is the first one to visit my garden. It is Clytus arietis, the Wasp Beetle, so named because its black and yellow markings and the way it moves make it resemble certain wasp species. This disguise must give it some protection from predators, enabling it to take its time ambling around flowers in woodland clearings and rides (normally!).
