The John Lyall gates

Today I went up to the Olympic Park to visit West Ham's new Stadium store.

These gates are the 'John Lyall gates' (that is his picture behind) and these were originally located at the entrance to West Hams old ground 'The Boleyn Ground'
The gates had been at the entrance to the ground for over 60 years and were named after 'John Lyall' after his death.
John Lyall was West Hams longest serving and most successful manager, serving 15 years from 1974-1989, winning 2 Cups and achieving our highest place in the league.

When the club relocated at the end of last season it was decided to take some of our history with us, and these gates now form the barrier to the downstairs coffee shop at the clubs new store.
