The Dales and the Lake District

We went on a loooong drive today all over the place, through the Dales and over into Cumbria and the Lake District. It was so much more than I ever imagined it to be! I've watched lots of TV stuff about this place but it fails completely to give you a sense of the sheer scale of it. Around every corner is a new breathtaking vista. Ullswater especially was amazing. Easily one of the best days out ever! The light was perfect too, lots of cloud and varying sun, shadows playing over everything!

Photographed here (from top left): the Dales near Sedburgh (complete with sheep, this place makes Wales look lacking in sheep!), boats on the lake at Windermere, an incredible vista we saw across the Lake District during the drive home, another shot from Windermere of some of the beautiful trees around the shore, a picturesque bridge near Ullswater and the view down one of the passes out of the Lake District.
