Lemon and Date Scones!

We've had such a happy day today.  Started off at the Growers Market in Blackheath.  It's the best way to catch up with the locals because just about everyone turns up.

This afternoon we had three friends arrive for afternoon tea and I decided the best bet was to make the trusty Lemon and Date Scones.  I have to say, they really went down very well indeed!  I decided I should give my very precious Masterchef Apron a whirl.  There's quite a story behind how I managed to secure one of these very recognisable Aprons.

Julie Goodwin, the winner of the first Masterchef Series in Australia was a guest on the Murray River cruise that CCN and I did in 2014.  I very cheekily suggested to CCN and our two friends who were joining us that we should all wear an Apron to Julie's Cooking Classes.  I had a good feeling that if we wore our aprons, Julie might ask us to come up and give her a hand.  Well it worked!  The good news is, we were the only ones who wore aprons and it only took a couple of minutes before we were up there, one at a time, helping (some might say hindering) Julie with her demonstration.

We all just loved her energy and loved the time we spent with her on the three day cruise along the mighty Murray River.  Just before we disembarked, I asked Julie to sign my cook books of hers that I had brought all the way from the Blue Mountains.  To my great delight Julie presented me with a ridgy didge Masterchef Apron which even had her name embroidered on it.  It is an apron that I truly cherish and it made it's first official appearance today with my Masterchef Lemon and Date Scones.  Thanks to Karen for taking this shot of CCN and myself with my iPhone!!

PS -I think I might have to send of copy of this photo to Julie Goodwin.  I reckon she will love it.

STOP THE PRESSES:  I have just had the most wonderful chat to Biker Bear.  It's the first time I have spoken to Anni, a true legend in the Blip world.  All of a sudden it seemed like we were in the same country, even perhaps the same village.  The world became a much smaller place.  It was such a thrill to hear your voice Anni and I hope you enjoy watching Wimbledon at a civilised hour.  I've just set my TV to record it!!
Goodnight Everyone :-)
