'Sing for Water West', at Bath's Royal Crescent

We drove down to Bath this afternoon to be at 'Sing for Water West 2016', at Bath's Royal Crescent. It is an annual fund raising event organised by local Bath and Bristol area singers on behalf of the WaterAid charity and was held at this auspicious location for the first time today.

My great friend Pip has been one of the coordinators, so today he didn't join in the singing, which gave him the chance to listen. There were more than 800 individuals singing, all of whom are in there local choirs who were all given a set list months ago to practice. Various people conducted the combined choirs for different songs, ranging from a Zimbabwean folk song to some old favourites and even a Tom Petty song.

The weather was fine until about three songs from the end, when a shower turned into a downpour at the finale. I liked the undaunted enthusiasm of this group who were also so colourful.  A great event to be able to attend.  We were told that the money raised will go to a community in a part of Ethiopia where less than 25% of the population have any access to safe and clean drinking water. The downpour seemed to be adding its own message.
