In the family Bible...

Mary Ann Elizabeth Wilson (née Rae), died in May 1936, at Howgate Dumfries.   She was a widow, and Mary and William had had seven children, two of whom died in childhood.   

She was my great grandmother.

Her death was certified by Dr Sandison (who I remember!).   The cause of death was carcinoma of the colon.   All family accounts suggest that is was not an easy passing.

In the family Bible she wrote:
"I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course.
I have kept the faith."

In this clearing up business, I find it impossible to throw away a message sent down over seven decades......
