Scuol Old Town
It's rest day today so whilst Tony went off to a meeting I did the washing and uploaded my orienteering photos from yesterday. Last night we had a spectacular thunderstorm over the valley. Becky had come over for dinner and we walked her back to the youth hostel afterwards in heavy rain and lightning flashes.
On Tony's return we walked down in to the old town near the River En and up to the Church of Scuol which sits on a hillside overlooking the town on one side and the river on the other. In the church grounds we found small individual memorial stones decorated with flowers, including edelweiss, which were rather special. The houses in this older part of the town have been traditionally renovated and very pretty.
We lunched with Becky and the American orienteers. This was a lunch for supporters and families which was very good and gave us a chance to chat with some of the folks we knew about from Becky. We three had the special of the day which was goulash with noodles and salad, so no cooking tonight then!
After lunch, Becky left to debrief the American juniors and we meandered down to the event centre to pick up some information for tomorrow's Middle Distance Race in Ftan, just up the valley.
My blip is of part of our walk through the old town with some of the decorated houses below the church, with Mot San Jon behind. It's rained on and off today so mist is swirling around the valley.
