Skip's Blips

Close, closer, closest, and then some!

Winter has arrived. Much of the available food the deer like to feast on has died off or been browsed back until next to nothing delicious remains. This scarcity of the good green stuff forces the deer to hang around the trails hoping for a handout from the animal lovers who walk in the park. They don't run when I approach with my camera. They come closer, possibly hoping I am carrying something to feed them and sometimes I do. The deer in the picture above was close to me, but here she is closer, and closer, and closer. This buck was pretty close too, but the guys are usually more wary than the does. They usually keep their distance, so he must have been very hungry or very curious. To tell you the truth, I am wary of them too. Those antlers look dangerous.
