Slice of my Life

What are you doing in MY forest??

What a fun day we had! This lovely deer is just one of the highlights! We again worked on our hall project--then drove to the Cairngorm mountains. We stopped at Loch Morlich for lunch, watching the water lessons which included kayak and sail boat lessons! (It was fun to watch the kids fall out of the kayaks and get back in!) Our goal was to ride the funicular train to the top of Cairngorm mountain and hike down, but when we got there we discovered that wasn't allowed. So, we rode up and down-the view was spectacular-it blows my mind that one can see, from the top of this mountain, both sides of this country!! We then looked for a place to hike, walking around Loch Garten and Loch Mallachie where this lovely buck and his sister courted us both up and back! It was so quiet and peaceful in the forest--the Scotch Pine was plentiful, and there was no wind. It is amazing how much the Highlands around Inverness are like Oregon. We could have been at Sparks Lake!

We then continued traveling thru the countryside to Grantown on Spey where we had an outstanding Chinese dinner, heard a bagpiper playing, and I found more lovely chimney pots. It's just sad that I can't post a picture representing each of these highlights!

We came home to garden until dark. There is no more satisfaction in the world to me that a cleaned out section of garden. We came in when it finally got dark--10:15 p.m. What a day!!
