Dory And Dora*
* spellings approximate.
Fun in the Flumlet's garden this afternoon, we discovered the tiny weeny snail (in the thumbnail) and placed it on the storage box, named it Dory; then discovered the big one, called it Dora, and put that next to Dory. During the following hour or so Dora was found a home on a stone in the border, to be joined by Duncan, of much the same size, whereas Dory was carried carefully in the Flumlet's clenched hand, surviving a ride on the swing, the trampoline and a stroll along the road to see the lambs, dropped and found several times until it completely disappeared. Meanwhile Dora and Duncan had slithered off their stone and settled further into the undergrowth. We also turned over stones to see other creepy-crawlies, like ants, woodlice, spiders and a slug.
We had already had a full morning with our friends at Figgate Park, feeding the ducks on the huge pond (and not on bread but specialised Duck Pellets and wild bird food). We even have the cob swan eat out of our hand (this upset the Flumlet as the swan's beak enclosed his fingers, whereas it barely touched mine), this followed by lots or climbing at the playpark until time to leave (some of the things we saw are in the extra photo).
We had a busy old day and I can reassure you that no animals, humans or birds were harmed in any way, because Dory was actually only a shell - but don't tell the Flumlet.
