Vercors Plateau

Today's the day .......................... for the high life

A scorching hot day here today so we headed up into the Vercors Mountains to partake of a very leisurely Sunday lunch in the village of Autrans.

It always amazes me how life goes on just as normal in this mountainous part of France - way up at an altitude much higher than Ben Nevis.  The road winds up from the valley bottom without any fuss and you find yourself on the high plateau.  It feels like the top of the world.  In the wintertime, of course, this area is covered with lots of snow and everyone comes to ski - but today it was very hot - perfect for eating outside on the terrace under the chestnut trees.

The extra today is a shot that Will hopes might win him £100.  You had to take a selfie of the free socks that came with the Le Tour magazine that has become our reference bible for the duration of the race.  Keep your fingers crossed ..........................!
