Monmartre

Today's the day ....................... to go to Paris
 
Sadly, it was time to say 'Au revoir' to Marc and Marie Claire today and head north - but we weren't returning home just yet - we had a couple of days to spend in Paris first.
 
We love this vibrant city - with all its noise and bustle - and we're always finding new bits of it to explore.  This time we were staying in the area of Monmartre, beloved of the Impressionist artists and so very close to Will's heart too. 
 
We took the funicular railway up to the top of the hill where the view from the top over the whole of Paris was pretty spectacular.  We had to share it with quite a crowd of people, but that did nothing to take away from the vast scale of it all.  This is the Basilica de Sacre Coeur - and the extra is one of the many selfie-taking Chinese tourists that seem to have taken over the world ......................
