Watching the Olympics

Well, not really, actually. Mostly following them sneakily online. But this is the sort of piece of 'portable' technology that in previous years might have been what we would have used at work to follow the Olympics. No more, of course, with live feeds, text commentaries, and what have you to keep us all up to date. This antiquated object has been hanging around in the hallway where we come in to work for months now. Obviously someone cleared it out of a cupboard but doesn't have the heart, perhaps to dump it in the bin.... Perhaps the V&A will want it soon.

It's not been a good day. Lots of irritations - nothing to do with work, but enough to make me realise that I should pack up and go home now before I do start to get irritated by work stuff.

But on another note, as a former rower and someone who loves to go out on the bike, I am pleased about the end of the gold drought. It was also good to see that men could still win some medals, but the performance of the women has been quite remarkable, even more so given the general dismissal of women's sport in the UK.
