Saltwort
The saltwort in the estuary has been pretty dead looking over winter but today I noticed it looked like someone had turned the lights on with the sun shining through some of the segments.
Photographing the whole bed of them was overkill so I got onto my hands and knees in the soggy, crab-ridden ground and singled one out . The rest of the saltwort bed made a nice warmly coloured backdrop.
Salttwort is the common name for various genera of flowering plants that thrive in salty environments, typically in coastal salt marshes and seashores.
In the extras is a pic of the saltwort taken last year to show what it is like in summer.
