Today was the first time I felt really rather overheated here. When we staggered back to the hotel after an early tea (it's at the top of a very steep hill...) the man on reception confirmed that it was indeed rather humid today. There is a bit of a breeze coming off the Bosphorus, but not from a direction that would cool off our room.
So we went up on the roof to have a beer and cool off, but now I'm hot again doing my blip. The warmth of a laptop keyboard is welcome in winter. Not now!
Anyway, another fun day. We met up with a colleague of mine from work whose partner lives here (at present) and he is visiting. We had a really good chat over an extended brunch. Then we got the boat trip up the Golden Horn which was great for a different perspective on the city which I've not seen before. This was leaving Kabatas. That speedboat had nearly managed to tangle with the ferry boat as it turned around.
The ferry boat was pretty empty, to be honest, and at least in this part of town there are zero tourists. There are still a lot of Istanbullers moving around - especially on the ferries between Besiktas and Uskudar which constantly disgorge large numbers of people on either side of the Bosphorus.
Generally trying to stay lowkey. Seems the best thing to do at present.
