Busy Bosphorus
I took this with fat lens from the hotel roof first thing this morning when we went up there this morning. I literally think we might be the only guests in the hotel today. Certainly, unlike the first two days when we did see a few other people, we've seen no one else today apart from the staff, who are struggling on wo/manfully and really can't do enough for us.
Mr A discovered a mark on his sensor yesterday, so we headed out today to try and get it cleaned. We managed this in the end in the centre of the city - not somewhere we had intended to go. We popped into Besiktas first of all. No luck there, but they recommended a "Han" in the centre of the city where all the camera shops are located.
So we took one ferry across to where you see the red cranes on the blip, and then another one back to Eminonou. All for free, as Istanbul is not charging for public transportation at the moment (private ferries and cruises still cost). After successfully finding someone to sort out the camera, we hopped on the tram across the Galata Bridge and went to have lunch in the place we had dinner on Saturday night - Karikoy Lokantasie. Excellent. Then taxi back to the hotel.
This evening we went out by taxi as well - to Ortokoy for some excellent plain food, followed by a drink on the waterfront as it got dark. Now I'm blipping on the balcony. Although the wifi signal doesn't really stretch out here on my phone or ipad, it does on the laptop.
At present, I'm surrounded by the evening call of the muezzin, from mosques all around. You'd forget, of course, that this was a Christian city for centuries, and before that a pagan one.
