Today's the day .......................... for the final chapter

Well, that's it then - what on earth are we going to do with ourselves, now that Le Tour  has come to an end?

It has been a vital part of our day for the last three weeks and the subject of endless conversation and discussion with countless numbers of people.  We've followed the riders and shared their highs and lows - we've felt their pain and we've celebrated their joy.  But today, the 2016 Tour was finally wrapped up - and handed over to the statisticians for detailed analysis and entry into the record books of time.  But before the day passes - there's a few people we would like to thank for making it a memorable year for us. 

My cousin Bob and my sister Marj, both avid fans, for explaining the inexplicable rules, drawing diagrams showing tactics and generally enlightening us on the finer points of the race.  We've still a way to go - but we've improved beyond all recognition. 

A special mention for Marc and Marie Claire who made a dream come true and enabled a huge Bucket List tick when they made it possible for us to go and actually watch Stage 14.  A truly momentous day.

And finally for the writers of this 2016 Tour Race Guide.  We have poured over it on a daily basis and read every word of it.  We carried it with us wherever we went - it became our bible.  It was worth every penny of the £8.99 it cost to buy.  Here's hoping we can find it again next year ..........................!
