Heather
This is the first summer in 11 years that we are not spending some of it walking in the Swiss Alps. The children grew up walking those mountains, and it was also a wonderful annual holiday for Murdoch where he got fit and slim. Missing that walking, I decided to go for a long walk this morning with Murdoch, and we set off with me only having a vague idea of where I was going. We ended up doing a walk I did years ago when the children were small, from one woods to another on a circular route. On the way back I saw this patch of heather growing near the side of the road, so when I got home I got my camera, tripod and grad filters (to darken the sky) and drove back to this spot to take some photos.
I then took Thomas to M&S to buy some school trousers which was a waste of time as they were all too short and did not fit properly, so we came home and I have now ordered the longer length trousers online. Teenagers these days do not wear their trousers pulled up high, and yet M&S (and other department stores) have not accounted for this so when they push them down a little bit on their hips one is left with a saggy crotch! How simple it would be to get with the times and design school trousers that teenagers want to wear that fit properly.
Another quick call from Gavin today when they reached the coast of France and had coverage again, all well but surprisingly cold and they were wearing their oilskins when out on deck to keep warm. Poor Luke had the 2am to 6am shift last night and was pretty tired this morning.
