Manchester Jazz Festival....
Had a nice day with Andy at the Manchester Jazz Festival. Regular readers might remember him from the suit shopping we did this time last year. We managed to pack in three concerts before a late lunch. There was a free one from the 17 year old Alexandra Ridout who is the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the year, 2016. With four equally young men she did a tour de force performance of classic jazz pieces.
Then we dashed down to St Ann's Church to see the Paul Towndrow and Steve Hamilton Duo from Scotland perform some ethereally beautiful jazz on sax and piano in the beautiful surroundings of one of Manchester's most beautiful buildings. See picture.
And finally back to Albert Square to watch a group called Skutch Manos. They were a revelation and I can't begin to describe their style. But check them out on YouTube and if they ever come your way, get tickets. They were just wonderful.
