Keeping the Faith and the "Audacity of Hope"

Dear Diary,

This stone Buddha sits serenely under a huge section of ledge that was deposited there thousands of years ago when the last ice age retreated from Maine.  An erratic they call it.  This stone Buddha was placed under it years ago.  I felt it was the perfect metaphor for the world today.  Despite the terror and fear mongering trying to crush us, we hold the space with strength and dignity refusing to allow their words to enter into and corrupt our hearts.

Yes, it was another amazing night at the Democratic Convention culminating in an historic speech by President Obama.  It did not down play the challenges we face but raised us up from the gutter of despair that the Trump campaign threw us in last week at their convention.  Yet again, I was so proud to be a member of this party.

I will keep this image in mind in the coming weeks as the rhetoric and insults heat up.  Strength and dignity and compassion must lead us forward no matter what.  That is the true American...my America.
