Today's judgement by the Supreme Court has been long awaited. In commenting on the Children and Young People Scotland) Act 2014 it said that the purpose of the legislation was legitimate and benign. But it had concerns, sufficient to say the law in this respect was not acceptable, over the information sharing aspects of the framework established by the Act.

So the Scottish Government has work to do.

What happens will impact in some way on the children's hearings system which I have some responsibilities for. But as an area of work I have been involved in for over a decade, the anticipated, albeit adapted, implementation as announced today was welcomed.
