Clear Wings, Full Heart, Can't Lose!
That’s what the coach hollered as Team Moth left the locker room for their morning nectar sipping practice at the Brookside Training Center, all in preparation for the 2016 Alternative Olympic Games starting next week. They moved quickly from flower to flower, hovering, sipping, flying at high speed, repeat, repeat, all looking to be in excellent form. This reporter did overhear some grumbling about the fur training-suits which are proving to be quite uncomfortable in the hot summer weather and are rather hard to get off after a lot of sweating. Oh yes, and they are causing some chafing, too. But they look good for the camera and that’s all that really matters, isn’t it?

Some of you may recognize this title as a play on the words that Coach Taylor and his high school football team would say in unison before every game on the wonderful TV show, “Friday Night Lights.” The correct phrase is “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.“ It was a great show, a bit of a sleeper whose 5 seasons have gained great popularity via on-demand streaming services long after its cancellation
Many thanks to all of you for the comments, stars, and hearts that have sent yesterday's Dragonfly close-up to page one. I also appreciate the encouragement and interest in my upcoming insect macro tutorial, scheduled for next week.
Thanks also to Anni for the Flower Friday Challenge and to Deb for the AOG fun.
