A Friendly Welcome
We travelled down to Cornwall late morning and arrived at our holiday cottage, which is in the middle of nowhere, somewhere between Holsworthy and Bude.
The last bit found us driving a mile down a single track no through road with grass growing down the middle, much to the rest of the family's consternation - they were convinced I'd got them lost.
The cottage is wonderful, a converted barn on the owners' smallholding. We received a very warm welcome ( and a home made cream tea) from the owners, Debbie & Steve, and Sophie was soon enjoying herself on the little playground in the adjoining meadow and getting acquainted with the sheep and pigs; despite appearances, this one greeted us with a series of friendly grunts.
We've taken a stroll through the fields and along the bank of the River Tamar and enjoyed a meal and (one or two!) drinks in the evening sun.
Looks like we've found a good base for a week's holiday. Wifi is 'a bit eccentric' as Debbie put it so comments may be correspondingly erratic.
