Liverpool Biennial

We went to Liverpool today, where the Liverpool Biennial Festival of Contemporary Art is taking place. This picture shows Oliver Laric's sculpture "Sleeping Shepherd Boy, part of an interesting collection of works in the former canning hall of Cain's Brewery.

The main purpose of the visit was to go to the Tate Liverpool to see the Francis Bacon exhibition - which was, as expected, dramatic, disturbing and fascinating. Near the City Centre, it is still easy to find picturesque urban grunge, evidence of youthful, vivid imagination and the colourful re-use of old buildings.
