Flicker in the fuchsia

I bought this plant in May when it was covered in blooms as hummer bait. Since then those blooms made berries, the plant nearly died (too much/too little water/fertilization??), and finally it is putting out a few new blooms.
But the hummers still check it out before coming to my feeder, and now the flickers are enjoying it.
It was a good purchase!
