Floating Heads
We spent a large part of today inside Glasgow's Kelvingrove Museum; not because of the weather, but simply because of the quality of the exhibits and the paintings in particular.
We absolutely loved the works of the Scottish Colourists. When we visit galleries, Cathy and I like to play a game: we each get to choose the single work from each room that we are allowed to take home. The Scottish Colourists gave us a real problem as we both struggled to choose just one work. If only we were multi-millionaires!
Salvador Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross was as imposing in real life as I suspected it would be. When you add into that mix the Glasgow Boys and the work of Mackintosh and his genius wife Margaret MacDonald, you can see why we were at Kelvingrove for most of the day.
I couldn't resist this shot of the floating heads that float in the atrium space of one of the halls. I suspect that they have been much blipped in the past, but they are very much an appropriate entry for our day.
