Bound To Die ...

During a long walk in sun and shade we visited the Abbey Church St. Martin.

On one side we found this statue of Christ - slightly damaged - naked, bound and crowned with a crown of thorns. The look in his eyes is one of sadness and suffering.

I made this photo and tried to accentuate the surrealistic impression I had while looking up to this statue. I was very impressed by the pose and the expression the unknown artist had achieved in stone. As I was by the surroundings in which the statue was placed. Sitting for a broken leaded window in the glare of undefined filtered daylight ...
