The Tack Coat

Unexpectedly the contractors from the gas board returned to do a bit of quid pro quo road surfacing for favours agreed by the mighty Road Association last year. (I am honoured to be a member of its Central Committee).

The gang were brilliant and witty and did an excellent job.

You'll notice a 'sold' sign but it is not us. This is for John's house. Luckily it is being bought by a lovely couple. The probate process is finished and I guess they will be completing fairly soon. I shall have to give over the last set of keys I hold. Circles and cycles completing and finishing.

Meanwhile we have had a couple of positive viewings and are hopeful.

I also learnt today that the Post Office up the road was done over yesterday. Apparently someone went in with a parcel and when the parcel window was open somehow squeezed themselves through the window and  behind the counter with the women who staff the post office.  Thankfully no-one was hurt and the miscreant was chased up the street by a neighbour, five pounds notes spilling in the breeze - a south-westerly if I recall.

The 'tack coat' is the liquid tar (a 'thin bituminous liquid asphalt, emulsion or cutback layer') the road gang spread on the old surface before laying down the new tarmac, in case you were interested.
