'Amazing Day'

We met my family in London for the day.. My daughter Kelly had arranged with our local MP for us to go to the top of Elizabeth Tower..a 75 minute tour, climbing 334 steps to the belfry and Big Ben. We checked in at Portcullis House, very tight security, and sadly our bags and cameras were locked up before we started. There were 18 of us. The lady who was our guide was very knowledgable..she does it three times a day. It was the most exciting experience to stand next to Big Ben and watch and hear it strike 3pm. The mechanism of the clock is awe inspiring. Big Ben is E flat, and the four quarter bells are G sharp, F sharp, E and B, sound the Westminster chimes. The chimes came to be associated with lines from Psalm 37.31...All through this hour, Lord be my Guide. That by thy power, no foot shall slide.

We then met my son in law who had been at the Natural History Museum with my four Grandsons. We made our way in the rain to the V@A Museum to get a cup of tea. I was keen to see the Elytra Filament Pavilion, blipped by Pixelfoto a couple of weeks ago. Thanks Pix.
Described as a responsive shelter, a robot will build new components of the structure on-site, allowing the canopy to grow over the V@A engineering season. Presence in the pavilion was captured by the sensors in the canopy fibres and will affect how the structure grows. The design is inspired by the filament structures of the shells of flying beetles, known as elytra. Quite impressive.

We walked miles..Will and Alex did well. Thomas and Peter were searching for Pokemon...(like I understand what that's all about) but they are very enthusiastic!

We all said goodbye at Victoria Station this evening.
