Olympics (again)

Today was the first day of my hollibobs and the first of the two Olympic events that we are due to watch.

We left the house with great hopes for the Quarter final in Coventry between GB Ladies and Canada, perhaps too high hopes after the defeat of Brazil in the week.

Despite some exceedingly dodgy ref and lineswoman decisions (including a missed penalty) it was the best team that won, and it wasn't GB. Canada 2 GB 0 was the final score.

The atmosphere was great though, the boys and us really enjoyed it (it was tiddlers first full footie match) and it was just a whole family occasion. Lots of kids, mums, shared sweeties and smiles - just how football should be if it is to move forwards.

I caught this Canadian fan having her photo taken before the match started and just knew it was a lovely moment. I bet her smile was even bigger by the end.
