Orange flowers?

These orange flowers always make a splendid display outside my kitchen window.  As with most of the plants in the garden, they were planted by the previous owner who was a very keen gardener.  The first year we were here we ate the produce from an enormous vegetable garden - that got grassed over - too much like hard work.  His knowledge did not come with the house - What are these splendid blooms?
