Chalky

A first for me today,  spotting a butterfly I hadn't seen before - just rather a pity it kept landing on the floor. He was sitting snuggled in a dip out of the wind in the limestone meadow, shining bright like a tiny jewel but not wanting to be disturbed so kept flitting from patch to patch of scrubby grass as I tried to get a shot before he finally took off.

This is a male Chalkhill Blue butterfly. I had to look it up as the blues are a bit confusing. The male here has cold pale, silvery blue wings with sooty -brown borders whereas the female is brown and very similar to the Adonis Blue female. His underwings are heavily spotted on a light grey background that appear almost white in the sun. The shot here really doesn't do it justice as it is so very pretty.

Back to the hospital today for more physio  on the balloon like ankle. It is now exactly 8 weeks since the manhole disaster and I'm getting a bit fed up of it all. Consensus is that it was broken as well as torn after all but didn't show on the x-ray! The dogs were so pleased they managed to get a short run today, albeit not quite the distance they would have liked but still we enjoyed a bit of freedom ......so all good!!

Great news that Adam Peaty won the Gold today and just listening to the TV Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow have won the bronze in synchro diving!
