Cottis and Sons

Another great day with friends Al and Liz over in Waltham Abbey, too much eaten as it usually is on these occasions.  After the large lunch which consisted of quite big samosas with salady bits from their allotment, then cheese and biscuits we walked to Waltham Abbey call in at their local museum.

Last time we tried, a couple of years ago, it was closed for renovations but Al said it had recently reopened and would be interested to see what is was like. And it was very good indeed, an excellent renovation of a 15th C tudor town house (extra) which like all such buildings has had a long and varied history. The museum displays information about the local area from the mammoths (extra) to the modern day and also goes behind the scenes to show what the building looks like behind the renovations. It would repay a further visit.

The afternoon was rounded off with scones and tea and only a short interval later by dinner consisting of chicken and fennel, beans, potatoes and glazed beetroot with apricot crumble to finish. Groan....
