Bon appetit

Made myself a promise today that the next time I visit Salisbury, I shall make sure the sun is shining, that it’s warm enough to sit outside and take in a carafe of wine and moules mariniere here.
But then, I am easily satisfied, and providing I can find someone to drive me, I’ll be content to linger here all afternoon.
Pavement café culture for eating out is not a big thing in this country, probably because the weather for the most part, is not that inviting. But when it is you can be like me, and dream of meals for two in the sun, whether here close to home or in places more distant, across the Channel or further afield.
Mrs F and I have always looked upon welcoming the opportunities of being able to  dine ‘al fresco’ with open arms. So here in Salisbury the prominence of pedestrian areas and no traffic zones where any number of restaurants, coffee shops, and refreshment houses capitalise on the prospect of people like us being only too willing to share a table outdoors and watch the world go by, wins my favour
Oh yes, and the prospect of savouring a generous bowl of mussels, cooked in wine, with a baguette and maybe a glass or two will help.

Café Rouge . . . we will be back.
