US Holiday Day 16

Yosemite Day Two
When we bought out tickets to go into the National Park the Ranger told us that it will be very very busy as its the 4th of July weekend. He underestimated the situation. We started very early but were still stuck in a slow motion traffic jam all the way through the Valley, the jewel in the Yosemite crown. Tranquility is one of the essentials in a place like this and it was not available. We saw all the big sites but that was about all that can be said. After several hours of this we escaped to go to the viewpoint over the valley. We got to the turning to find the road closed as the car park at the end was full and half the road to it was blocked by cars waiting to get into it. The Ranger suggested coming back in a couple of hours but it would be better to leave it til tomorrow. Shame but not an option so we left to go to our next accommodation.
The first extra picture shows the point the water falls over the cliff, in a strong wind.
The second one is of Mono Lake, very salty water that contains some strange salt sculptures. Rather eerie place we visited before going to the park. One plus point for Mono Lake was that it was almost empty. Not surprising as most of the US population that awaited us in Yosemite.
This sounds a grumpy blip; its not, just a bit disappointed.
