a stroll among the water lilies

Today I had the pleasure of taking a friend who is like a sister to me for an early birthday celebration to the Denver Botanic Gardens. 
We strolled around the 23 acres of colorful blooms and buzzing bees, but we were most enraptured with the water lilies. There were so many varieties - some with small smooth pads, some with larger crinkly pads, and some with huge edged pads that held a sleeping duck! See extra.
And of course the lilies themselves came in all sizes and  vivid colors. It was a feast for the eyes!
And then we went for birthday lunch for our tummies.
