Eric's Tales of the Sea, a submariner's yarn
Caught another couple of shows at the fringe today. Eric the submariner was quite fun, this is the opening slide of his stand up routine.
The Alan Cochrane play Ne'er the Twain by Saughtonhall Drama Group was a lovely evenings entertainment, about social divide, and the making of Leith into a 'mere suburb of Edinburgh'. Lots of laughs and a very welcoming venue.
Eric's Tales of the Sea, a submariner's yarn - "Award-winning show. True-life submariner and gifted raconteur, Eric, gives an insider’s view of life aboard a nuclear submarine. This show is not to be missed – it is truly unique. Eric will keep you mesmerised hanging on his every word. With a selection of incredible images, he takes us through his experiences, which at times leave the audience scared to breathe in case they miss something. Heart-warming, real-life personal stories of danger, suspense and true love underwater."
Ne'er the Twain - "Edinburgh author Alan Cochrane's brilliant Scots comedy, set in 1919 when the town of Leith was about to reluctantly join Edinburgh. The adjoining towns co-exist in friendly rivalry with the boundary conveniently running through the middle of a pub. The McIvor and Burns families, from opposite sides of the dividing line, face with apprehension the prospect of a marriage across the boundary. Add in a Newhaven fishwife with a weakness for drink and an assistant minister who contrives to visit at the most inconvenient moments, provides the ingredients for two hours of pure enjoyment."
