Nike Bike-ee

Today we tried out Portland's new bike share system sponsored by Nike. You go out on a hot, sunny morning, pick one of the many orange racks of orange bicycles and choose one of them to ride. Then you sign up for an account on your phone and enter your numbers into the pad attached to the back of the bike. By the time you finally get the bike released from its locked berth you are already hot and slightly frazzled at shading the screen from the sun, pressing and repressing some of the keys and then pressing them some more. Whew! Finally the bike is yours for awhile. We rode for a half hour until one of us was ready to lock it to the nearest light pole. It was fun, but it was also in the 90s today. A bit like riding a shoebox.
