The Olympics - Beaching
Backblipping... 2 in a day.
Our final day in The Olympics... we managed to fit a fair few stops in on the way back - so more extras than usual. We began with a walk around the Hall of Mosses, where trees were, er... covered in moss. Lake Crescent looked very much like a classic loch back home, except the mountains were covered in trees right to the top.
Hurricane Ridge up at over 5000 feet (we drove up) gave amazing views towards Mount Olympic, Mount Baker, Canada and around Washington, we should have stayed there for a while.
Dungeness Nation Park by the sea had natural formed spit reaching over 5 miles out into the straits between US and Canada. Again we played touching wood. The lighthouse at the end of the spit looked stunning in front of Mount Baker.
As we hunted down a place to eat, about 8pm at night, we finally received an email from Ms H's school teacher (i.e. 4am in the morning) with her exam results - 6 days later than they were published. She had thought she had registered to receive them by email a long time ago, but used an invalid email address and didn't chase up her access before the cut off point, so phone calls back home on Friday were needed to reset the process. In the meantime she said she could ask the school which she could have done last week... doh!
She should really have been marked down for all the debacle, but I guess she had suffered enough. Anyway, she did amazingly well, we knew she was capable of it, but it all going together on the day coupled with a few low prelim results meant we were all a bit unsure. But our 6 week boot camp in April/May was a success, yeehah!
