Gatekeeper, early evening

The last chance to look for butterflies and log them in the Big Butterfly Count, and I spent most of the day judging a dog show near Stratford on Avon. I was visited by one white in the ring before we were treated to a thunderstorm and lightning.

By the time I got home, it was beginning to be sunny, so I headed off to spend one final 15 minutes or so in the local Woodland Trust property.

There were a few lively Gatekeepers, some small Skippers and some silver moths.

All duly logged for another year.

It is so worrying, though, that the numbers seem to be so down.

But maybe it is just that the weather has been so horrible that they are all staying hidden.
