But many of the older priests, Levites, and other leaders who had seen the first temple wept aloud when they saw the new temple's foundations. The others, however, we're shouting for joy. The joyful shouting and weeping mingled together in a loud noise that could be heard far in the distance.
Ezra 4v12,13

Fifty years after it's destruction , the Temple was being rebuilt. Some of the older people remembered Solomon 's Temple , and they wept because the new Temple would not be as glorious as the first one. But the beauty of the building was not nearly as important to God as were the attitudes of the builders and worshippers. God cares more about who we are than what we accomplish.
What is important , a worth while aim, is to grow in Christ likeness. To strive to be more like Jesus. Christ calls all of His disciples to excel , to rise above mediocrity, and to mature in every area - in character, in holiness, in maturity, in love, becoming more like Him.

1 corinthians 9v24,25
