Smokies
Mr A had to work late on Friday night, so we missed our usual takeaway night.
Instead, we decided to go out for a meal with Laura and Steve tonight; it made a nice change.
We've heard all good things about Smokies, which is an American style smokehouse, so managed to book a table there.
It's a veritable meat feast; definitely not a place for vegetarians!
It was hard choosing what to have, so we decided to go for the sharing platter which gave us a bit of everything. Mr A and I shared, Steve had one to himself! We both ended up with a box to take home as there was just too much meat for us to eat.
Laura had the roast chicken.
Besides what you can see in the photo, there was also a side of fries each, coleslaw and ranch beans (which were BBQ beans with pieces of brisket in).
On the platter was half a hickory smoked chicken, sausage, pulled pork, beef brisket and a full rack of ribs.
The meat was really nice, but the flavour was much of a muchness after a while and for me the smokiness was just a bit too much.
We all said we are glad we went and tried it, but we prefer the diner down the road, which we went to for dessert (as Smokies don't offer dessert).
I couldn't face anything else to eat, but Mr A and Laura had waffles and ice cream. Steve had a crunchie bar milkshake.
Coffee was back at our house where we had a good laugh and chat until late.
It was a good night :-)
