Time for a Fire
Over the last few days we have chopped down three trees, stripped them of branches, sawed the trunks into lengths and logs for splitting, and split a lot, which is now piled ready for winter.
So what do you do with all the branches? You have a fire of course! Marshmallows were produced, the branches piled and off we went. The only problem was the fire was too hot to get near, especially when the family foraged into the forest and came back with more heaps of dead wood.
One reason for having the fire then was the forest is damp and more rain was forecast, so it was safe to send sparks soaring. The rain came, and being rather hot and sweaty we went to the lake and swam. It was interesting swimming and watching the rain drops bouncing of the water, right in front of my nose.
Despite 5 hours of rain the fire is still smoldering outside as I come in from The Red House for a late-night blip and sleep!
The marshmallows? Some were eaten direct from the packet, the rest await a slightly less fierce fire!
