North Kessock Lifeboat Station Open Day
There were plenty of activities going on today on the Black Isle. There was a Classic Car Rally which ended at the academy. We saw lots of old cars of all designs on our way to Inverness. We went down to North Kessock and were thinking of going to the Open Day but it was really busy so we turned round and went on to Inverness to get a few things that we needed. Mike picked up a meal deal from M&S so we drove down to Merkinch to have a picnic. We had a prime position to watch the RNLI Display. We watch a small fishing boat 'catch fire' and the life boat crew from North Kessock took to the water to help. The larger boat from Invergordon was also there to assist. We thought it was all over when the helicopter arrived to carry off the 'casualties '. Amazing how they can put down and lift up a person from a moving boat. There were groups of people in all directions watching and cheering on the 'rescuers'.
We then drove up to ' Naturally Kirkmichael' where we had a chat with the RSPB and picked up some leaflets from the Butterfly Conservation.
We drove back through Cromarty, lots of yachts on the water and even more sailing back past the point as part of Grenville's Memorial Sail. The Skiff was there too and I think I spotted the green of Clover with a couple of blippers on board :)
