Feet
Inspired by seeing two other gorgeous tiny feet pictures in my blipfeed :)
Mad busy day today. First, off out to the hospital for Ben's physio appointment. He's been complaining of sore knees for a while so I thought it best to get them at least checked out, rule out any obvious nasties, that kind of thing. Physio we saw was very impressed with his ability to follow instruction! And Ben was happy to comply, after he'd run riot around her room playing with everything on offer :D She reckons it's more than likely to be growing pains but to keep an eye on him anyway especially given both my and Steve's various joint issues. Anyway as far as she was concerned, he's a very typical 3 year old with typical 3 year old joints and niggles and such. And he walks a lot. And he's grown out of his balance bike.
So we got home and I showed Steve the bigger balance bike that I'd found to replace the one that Ben has grown out of, and Steve said oh yeah I know who Ben Spies is.... there's me thinking how cool it would be for Ben to have a Ben Spies balance bike, especially as he's a MotoGP champion and all that! Ben insists his current balance bike is a motorbike. I swear that boy is going to grow up to be a crazy biker. So we ordered the bike :) I did ask Ben, BEFORE showing him the bike, whether he wanted a new bike with pedals on or if he wanted a new one without pedals, and he said without pedals - fine by me! I think if his knees are hurting already, pedalling isn't going to do them any favours. Going along on a balance bike is gentler on his legs than walking for any distance, but still giving him the exercise which he needs to build his little legs up!
So. Hospital visited, balance bike ordered.
Next: to tackle the living room and garden to make them suitable for friends to come and play! I think we did marvellously, all things considered. Steve tackled the garden and did a great job, and I tackled the living room. They both (garden and living room) did very well when Ben's friend Nat came round to play with his mum and his little sister! A manic afternoon, but lovely to have a chance to catch up with Libby. And hopefully we'll get another chance to chatter on Friday as well.
And then. Don't you just love it when dinner is exactly what your brain wants? I wanted chilli beef, and bread and butter. And it was the PERFECT chilli beef, a collaborative affair, rich and spicy and yummy. And bread and butter. And followed by chocolate icecream. Ahhhhhh. Perfection. Ben had his usual of cheese sauce and pasta. Charley had some cheese sauce and pasta, and some chilli beef and appeared to enjoy all of it, barely blinking an eye at the heat of the chilli. But oh boy did his face light up when the icecream came out. Ben had icecream. Charley went beserk!! So Charley and I shared some. I think maybe I ought to try freezing some yoghurt with crushed berries in rather than having too much chocolate icecream. Mind you we don't have icecream all that often. (It's usually cake......!)
And after dinner, while I was clearing up, Ben decided to get the little yappy dog toy out. Charley was TERRIFIED, clinging on to Steve for protection! Screamed when it flipped over the first few times. Then was happy to watch from a safe distance, held by Steve. And eventually decided it was ok to stroke the thing while it was just yapping, but drew his hand back when it sat down ready to flip over! I heard the screams from the kitchen and wondered what on earth was going on and went to investigate, but there was no way I could have got a picture without Charley seeing me!
Not sure what we're going to do tomorrow, our morning activity is cancelled so I need to think up something else :-/
