An image of a favourite place on our last full day
Of this Holiday, near Whitby.
This is of course Runswick Bay from the site across the bay where the twin village of Kettleness used to be until one stormy night it slipped into the sea, fortunately the strange noises and movement in the ground gave the villagers adequate warning and they fled, many by alum ships anchored in the Bay.
Runswick Bay suffered the same fate in an earlier time, but it was rebuilt fortunately.
Kettleness could not be, as the ground where it stood was gone, and is unstable to this day.
