Suspension Bridge
For the last 12 weeks I have been running three times a week. I started on a programme, called Couch to 5k, which I found on a NHS website. The name is not strictly accurate as it should be called Couch to running for 30 minutes three times a week. But that isn't quite so catchy. The programme lasts for 9 weeks increasing gradually until your are able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. Since completing the programme I have gone on to run for longer periods and for longer distances.
Without the pressure of having to go to work today as was able to run for longer and I covered 7.7K. I am not sure what direction my running will now take other than I am determined to continue running for at least 30 minutes three times a week. Anything else is a bonus.
After breakfast we headed out for a leisurely urban cycle ride through Warrington. We headed to Victoria Park via the trail through Black Bear park. The trail was once a busy canal and it links up with other longer trails. We cycled through Victoria Park to the Howley suspension bridge. Built in 1921 this Grade Two listed bridge was meant to be 60 feet wide to help relieve traffic at Bridgefoot just further down the Mersey. However money was tight and only the pedestrian bridge which you see in the photo was built.
We then cycled into Warrington, through some heavy Bank Holiday traffic, and visited St Mary's church, designed by E W Pugin, with its magnificent reredros and rose window.
We returned home via Wilderspool Causeway and Costa Coffee Stockton Heath.
