Jean at 70
Hard to believe that another of my walking friends has reached the age of 70. I think you will agree that Jean looks much younger.
Being Wednesday, the Haltwhistle walkers were out in force. The long walkers, (20ish of us - the number fluctuated later in the day), set out from Haltwhistle for a 10 mile walk via Kellah Farm and on to Kellah Moor. We call it Killer Moor on the quiet - but not when festival walkers are in earshot. It is always boggy up there but the views are good.
The weather was sunny and fine until 3pm when we were blessed with sudden heavy showers. Sorry BBC, your forecast was out by 1 hour. We expected to be under cover before that rain!
Back in Haltwhistle before 4 pm, we were treated to a wonderful birthday tea by the birthday girl herself. I wanted to photograph her and the moment presented itself when she brought this photograph to show us. She and Brian (husband) were at a wedding do where a fancy dress box was offered to guests to dress up. (Whatever will they think of next I wonder?) You should be able to see the result.
Happy Birthday Jeanie.
Small rant: I've bought Mum a new iPad for her birthday. Hers is very heavy and its hard for her to lift. I had it gift wrapped and a message to say not to open it until 5th September. It came today with a delivery note stating the contents of the parcel and a big Apple logo on the outside of the gift wrap (only a bit of ribbon actually). Not happy. Well Mum is - she opened it this evening and its charging up prior to being set up later. There can't be many iPads that have "Happy 95th Birthday" engraved on them, can there?
